Calgary, AB, October 27, 2021 - STEP Energy Services Ltd. (“STEP”) is pleased to announce the company has launched its first next-generation, low emissions fracturing asset in Canada. STEP has upgraded an existing pump with a CAT Tier 4 dynamic gas blending ("DGB") engine that can utilize both natural gas and diesel, depending on the fuel source available. The Tier 4 DGB pump maximizes the amount of gas used to displace diesel which delivers operators a substantial reduction of emissions, particulates, and fuel costs. This CAT Tier 4 DGB upgraded asset will be deployed as a part of our large dual-fuel fleet in Canada which represents over 132,500 HP.
"STEP is committed to meeting the needs of our clients, while prudently managing our sustainability initiatives," said Steve Glanville, STEP’s president and chief operating officer. "With the addition of this Tier 4 asset, and the expertise of our team of professionals, we have the capability to maximize diesel displacement rates for our clients.” Mr. Glanville also noted that, “Our ESG strategy is a key focal point for STEP as we pursue priorities that support our clients’ drive to minimize their emissions profile and reduce project expenditures."
This innovative dual-fuel engine displaces diesel with cleaner-burning natural gas which translates into emission reduction and fuel savings without compromising the power, performance, and reliability of a conventional diesel engine.
