Calgary, AB (February 2, 2015) – STEP Energy Services is proud to announce that its highly anticipated coiled tubing technology advancement, the STEP-ARM (Articulating Rotational Mast) marked its maiden voyage on January 26 and has successfully completed its first job.
“The STEP-ARM performed very well on lease and the client was extremely pleased with the results,” says Bailey Epp, vice president of engineering and technology. “Besides break-up like conditions, the ARM successfully completed the milling operations on a two-well pad with no issues and we couldn’t be more pleased.”
The ARM went to work for a client south of Grande Prairie for a plug and perf operation. The wells had 10 metres (33 feet) spacing between each wellhead, allowing the STEP-ARM to service each well without having to rig down, in return saving the client time and money.
“This project has required a lot of patience and perseverance to prove this game-changing technology,” says Epp. “Hats off to our operations, engineering, and field professionals for their flawless execution and providing STEP’s signature Exceptional Client Experience.”
The ARM is currently being mobilized to continue on to other clients, including a five-well pad project in early February.
