Calgary, AB (January 23, 2012 ) – STEP Energy Services, in conjunction with Surefire Industries, joined forces with Canadian Country Music Award (CCMA) nominated recording artist Julian Austin to donate a Corporate BBQ for the live auction at this year's STARS & SPURS Gala, presented by the Petroleum Services Association of Canada. The package raised $16,000, and the Gala rose over $700,000 total for the STARS Foundation, all helping to keep STARS in the air.
“STEP is proud to be associated with such an important event. The GALA helps ensure that STARS’ can continue with their vital service in Alberta”, stated STEP’s CEO, Regan Davis, “STEP looks for unique opportunities to give back to our community, and we feel that supporting STARS is important given the fact that our employees work in remote parts of Western Canada”.
STARS’ primary goal is the care and transport of critically ill and injured patients. Since its inception in 1985, from bases in Calgary, Grande Prairie and Edmonton STARS has carried out over 21,000 missions. Funds raised by events hosted for STARS assist not only with their patient care and transport, but also with the operation of the STARS Emergency Link Centre and the research and educational projects that they undertake as they strive towards excellence in all areas.
