Calgary, AB (February 17, 2015) – After a successful completions project with Kicking Horse Energy Inc (Kicking Horse, formerly Contact Exploration) in the fourth quarter, STEP was called upon in January to help complete the Company’s longest horizontal well to-date in the Montney formation.
Kicking Horse used NCS Multistage Unlimited in conjunction with STEP’s coiled tubing in the completion, allowing 84 individual slickwater fracs to be successfully placed – a Canadian stage count record for NCS Multistage and STEP.
STEP’s custom-designed 2” (50.8mm) 6,300m coiled tubing string was able to reach a Total Measured Depth (TMD) of 6,161 metres, fracturing at a rate over 4m3/min, and at pressures up to 78MPa. STEP’s ultra-capacity coiled tubing spread and 15,000 psi pressure package were used to perform this operation and will be used on a subsequent Kicking Horse well that has been equipped with 84 Multistage Unlimited™ sleeves.
“Together with partners like NCS Multistage, STEP continues to prove itself as the preeminent coiled tubing service provider in the Canadian market. We are excited by the possibilities new coil-conveyed solutions provide our clients, and are extremely pleased with the results of this project. We look forward to what the future will hold.” says Marc Johnson, vice president of sales and marketing at STEP.
