STEP Participates in Steps for Life Walk: Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy

Calgary, AB (May 20, 2015) – On Sunday, May 3, a team of STEP professionals participated in the Steps for Life walk in Red Deer, AB, raising the most money by a single organization to support families of workplace tragedies. Appropriately named “The STEP Sisters”, the team of 10 ladies collected a total of $6,465; the charity’s overall goal was to raise $21,000, but rose over $30,000 from the Red Deer walk alone.

As a corporate sponsor of the event, STEP provided a booth that handed out healthy snacks and drinks to all participants, and provided a face painter to decorate faces before and after the walk. Event organizer Donna Trottier commented, “Thanks to the STEP team that came out and participated in the walk and raised an amazing amount of donations. We are overwhelmed by your support! And last but not least, thanks so much for setting up a display at the walk and providing face painting. Your display definitely added excitement and enthusiasm to the event. We needed that and really appreciate it. You are special people!”

Steps for Life is the flagship fundraiser for the Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support, known as Threads of Life. This unique Canadian charity supports the healing journey of families who have suffered from a workplace fatality, traumatic life-altering injury, or occupational disease. Threads of Life currently supports more than 2,000 family members across Canada affected by workplace tragedies.
