Calgary, AB (March 9, 2017) - On Thursday, March 16 ICoTA Canada's AGM will be held at the Ramada Plaza Calgary Downtown where STEP's engineering manager, coiled tubing services, will be presenting on high pressure milling in the Duvernay.
Several challenges must be overcome to successfully perform plug milling operations in the Duvernay formation of Alberta, Canada. Extremely high average circulating pressures (55 MPa/8,000 psi) are encountered as a result of formation pressures and the length of coiled tubing (CT) required (7,500 m/24,600 ft). This presentation discusses the CT design considerations required, the challenges encountered during the operation, and the lessons learned to date.
