Calgary, AB (March 30, 2015) For the first time ever, STEP will be sponsoring a race car driver at the 2015 Eco Stock Class racing season! Driver Kit Leslie will race two Ford Escorts sporting the STEP logo. The Houston Motorsports Park in Texas will be home to the annual racing season which runs every other weekend until November 7 and kicks off April 4. Kit’s love of racing started in the 1980s when he raced motorcycles in Minnesota. Having always wanted to try his hand at racing cars, he bought his first eco stock class vehicle in 2013 and hasn’t looked back. Fun fact: Kit built the two cars that will take him through the 2015 season. The cage is custom built from high strength coiled tubing, which Kit “guarantee[s] there isn’t a stronger and safer cage on the track.” Good luck Kit!
About the Eco Stock Class
The eco stock class is intended to keep racing affordable and has been known as the “everyman’s class”. The experience level of the racers ranges from first timers to seasoned competitors. The cars are front wheel drive, with automatic transmissions, and 160 horsepower maximum. The drivers race on street legal tires (with limitations) and very few modifications to the car are allowed. The cars are all relatively equal in performance, so doing well has more to do with car set up and driver ability, and less to do with technical features.
