Calgary, AB (September 17, 2014) – STEP Energy Services has been recognized with two significant achievements for its safety culture.
Top Safety Cultures™ Award
On Tuesday, September 16, STEP was announced as a winner in the 2014 Top Safety Culture™ Awards, Large Enterprises category. The Top Safety Cultures™ awards program is intended to promote safer workplaces and enhanced organizational cultures for employees, their family members, and their communities across Canada.
Partners in Compliance (PIC)
At the end of August, STEP received membership acceptance to the Alberta Partners in Compliance (PIC) program along with an “excellent” rating on its safety fitness certificate from the Alberta Department of Transportation (DOT). Successful applicants needed to have an R-Factor score on the carrier profile less than 0.68, which STEP scored an outstanding 0.092. This prestigious safety fitness rating means STEP is held in high regard with various agencies, including the DOT and other member companies, allowing STEP to reduce and occasionally bypass inspection stations, thus decreasing travel times between jobs.
“STEP’s recognition as being a Top Safety Culture™ employer and becoming a PIC Member demonstrates our ongoing commitment to safety,” comments Chris Kirby, HSE manager. “Safety is our number one priority at STEP. The milestones that happen on the operations side of our business would not be possible if it wasn’t for our dedication to keeping a clean safety record,” adds Mr. Kirby. “It’s important we recognize and celebrate our achievements in HSE and communicate these successes to our clients who value safety as much as we do”.
