STEP Energy Services Surpasses its Canadian and USA Coiled Tubing Depth Record

Calgary, AB (March 20, 2017)– Just two weeks after C08 tagged in at 7,115 meters (23,343 feet), the same rig broke yet another coiled tubing depth record on March 3. After milling 47 plugs at pressures over 60MPa, STEP professionals tagged in at 7,200 meters (23,622 feet) with 2-3/8" (60.3 mm) coiled tubing on a six-well Duvernay pad.

Rory Thompson, vice president of coiled tubing, Canada comments, “We’re extremely proud of the records we continue to break both within the Company and in Canada. These are very deep, high pressure wells and it takes a skilled engineering and operations team to seamlessly execute the work.” Thompson adds, “Not only does STEP have the right professionals for the job, but we also have top-of-the line, purpose-built high pressure strings designed for these extended-reach horizontal 15k wells.”

This record also surpassed the Company’s United States depth record from September 2016 of 7,150 meters (23,458 feet).
