STEP is pleased to share an update on an incredible achievement by crew 33C08, who have now set and then exceeded the Canadian coiled tubing depth record for the industry.
Timeline of the record-breaking operation:
January 10, 2026: Crew 33C08 established a new Canadian depth record, reaching 8,513 meters (27,929 feet) during operations in the Rocky Mountain House, AB area of the Duvernay. This surpassed the previous Canadian record of 8,367 meters (27,450 feet) set in 2025.
January 14, 2026: Crew 33C08 pushed the record even further, reaching a new depth of 8,525 meters (27,969 feet), once again raising the bar for the industry.pro
Achieving a record is significant. Beating it again, with the same crew, on the same operation, speaks volumes about the technical capability, preparation, and execution of this team.
Martin Kasz, Site Manager, shared, “Congratulations to the entire crew on setting and then resetting the Canadian coiled tubing depth record. The team stayed focused on safety, executed the program as designed, and delivered outstanding results. Records matter, but how you achieve them matters more, and this team did it the right way.”
This milestone highlights STEP’s ability to take on increasingly complex challenges while continuing to deliver safe and reliable results for our clients.
Thank you to our coiled tubing engineering team for designing the program and working closely with the client to exceed expectations, as well as to Martin Kasz, our field professionals, and everyone involved in the successful execution of this operation.
