COIL+™ Sets New Montney Depth Record as Adoption Accelerates in Canada

STEP's dual-agitator coiled tubing technology surpasses 200 wells across the Permian, Bakken and Montney plays and continues to redefine extended-reach performance.

As operators pursue longer, more complex well designs, reaching total depth safely and efficiently remains one of the greatest challenges in coiled tubing operations. STEP's COIL+™ technology was built to meet that challenge, and it continues to prove its value in the field. On August 11, 2026, crew C19 set a new Montney coiled tubing depth record of 8,295 meters using STEP's COIL+™ dual-agitator system for valued client Pacific Canbriam Energy, surpassing the previous Montney record of 8,275 meters.

COIL+™ also known as split-string coiled tubing pushes the boundaries of coiled tubing by enabling longer well designs. Mid-string and bottomhole agitators reduce friction and extend lateral reach, while a single-connection design offers a safer, faster, and more efficient milling alternative to traditional snubbing operations all while maximizing production potential. By distributing vibration along the lateral, COIL+ delays lockup and helps operators reach total depth in wells once considered beyond the practical limits of conventional coiled tubing.

Operational Highlights

· Total depth: 8,294.9 meters

· True vertical depth: 2,419 meters

· Lateral length: 5,824 meters

· Lowest coefficient of friction achieved: Friction Factor of 0.14
