STEP Energy Services Celebrates 15 Years

STEP Energy Services is celebrating 15 years of exceptional service and oilfield operations, shaped by the dedication of our professionals and the trust of our clients across North America. From our early focus on deep capacity coiled tubing to a full completions service offering today, STEP was created to meet the evolving needs of unconventional development.

After studying petroleum engineering technology at the Southern Institute of Technology (SAIT), Steve Glanville, Chief Executive Officer, began his career in the field and progressed through leadership roles at several service companies. In 2011, he co-founded STEP alongside Bailey Epp and Regan Davis, with initial capital backing from ARC Financial Corp.

From the beginning, the founders brought complementary strengths and a shared vision for the company. Glanville and Epp contributed deep industry experience, while Davis brought forward ideas that helped shape STEP’s culture, with a strong emphasis on people and safety. Together, they built a company focused on delivering an elevated standard of service and technology, while ensuring it was done safely and consistently for clients.

Growth came through disciplined expansion and strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of GasFrac assets in 2015 and additional fracturing and coiled tubing assets in 2016. STEP entered the U.S. market in2015, expanded into Canadian fracturing services in 2016 and went public in2017 - all the while successfully navigating multiple industry cycles and the pandemic. The company’s return to private ownership in December 2025 marked a shift and has allowed the company to focus on additional growth opportunities. “We eliminated all debt, generated free cash, and established successful businesses in both Canada and the U.S.,” notes Glanville. “And now as a private company, we have the flexibility to pursue the opportunities ahead.”

Looking Forward

STEP will continue to focus on reliability, safety, and technology that helps clients optimize programs and maximize asset performance. Opportunities exist for disciplined growth and vertical integration. A key priority is advancing the integration of Sanjel Energy Services and Wayfinder Corp. By aligning teams, resources, and service readiness, we will operate as one team, providing clients with a seamless, unified approach to support their programs and future opportunities.

Most importantly, our people remain at the center of everything we do. “Our story has always been about the work our professionals do every day,” says Glanville. “We are focused on safety, consistent execution, and supporting clients for the long haul.” 15 years in, that focus continues to set us apart.
