Ultra-deep wells and extended-reach programs place unprecedented demands on coiled tubing operations. Success at these depths requires robust surface equipment engineered for maximum reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. To meet these realities, STEP is preparing to deploy UDx a new ultra-deep capacity coiled tubing reel configuration purpose-built to support ultra-reach coiled tubing work in the Permian Basin.
UDx represents a critical surface enabler for operators planning complex interventions in deeper, more demanding environments. At the core of UDx is unprecedented reel capacity. The trailer is engineered to carry up to 35,000 ft of 2-5/8 in coiled tubing and up to 28,600 ft of 2-7/8 in coiled tubing, enabling operators to plan ultra-deep interventions with confidence.
"Ultra-deep and extended-reach coiled tubing programs push the entire surface system to its limits." says Arliss Ford, Director of Maintenance. "UDx was engineered to remove surface uncertainty by delivering the capacity, structural integrity, and transport stability required for these programs so crews can focus on execution."
For operators planning extended-reach coiled tubing work, UDx delivers clear operational advantages:
As STEP continues to expand its ultra-reach capabilities, UDx stands as a critical surface enabler helping operators go deeper, access tougher locations, and execute complex coiled tubing programs more efficiently.
